La Crosse Community Theatre to present
regional premiere of blockbuster Les Misérables
|
La Crosse, WI - 3/18/2013 - La Crosse Community Theatre will present the regional premiere of Les Misérables beginning May 10 and continuing through May 26, 2013. The play is based on the book by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer.
Some may recognize many in the cast: Tom Bartig, Nick Cambio, Justin Cooke, John Divney, Patti Hall, J. Michael Hartigan, Brianna Herber, Connie Huebsch, Allan Johnson, Kate Kersten, Ryan Knox, Jonathan Krocker, Michael Kruse, Mary Lansing, Kevin Laumbach, Ken Lerum, Sean McDevitt, Sara Meyer, Cyndy Nichols, Lindsay Raasch, Daniel Schneider.
Making their LCT debut are Anna Mae Beyer, Lily Cornwell, Hunter Evenson, Amy Hatlevig, Maria Higgins, Jacob Hustvedt, Ken Lauer, Danielle Leikam, Lauren Olmernik, Darcy Reimler, Sam Scheidt, Ava Shively, Abie Sprain, Dale Stafslien, Seth Von Steidl, Emily Ware, Michelle Walker, and Bradley Weber.
Les Misérables will be directed by Greg Parmeter, with music direction by Diane Foust with Dustin Bagstad, conducting by Alex Vaver, choreography by Jen Wilkinson, costume design by Mandy Parmeter, set and lighting design by Dillon McArdle, sound design by Dana Erickson, and stage management by Kyle DeLap.
Perhaps the most popular musical of all time, Les Misérables has thrilled audiences worldwide. LCT is proud to be the first community theatre in our region to produce this epic, grand and uplifting show. In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years in prison and begins a life-long struggle for redemption, relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert.
Performances will take place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts, located at 428 Front Street South, La Crosse, Wisconsin. All tickets are $25.
Season ticket holders may reserve their tickets beginning Monday, April 15, 2013. Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, April 22, 2013. La Crosse Community Theatre Presents Encore Festival Version of Macbeth
|
La Crosse, WI - 2/15/2013 - La Crosse Community Theatre will present its festival version of William Shakespeare's Macbeth on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. Abridged by Artistic Director Greg Parmeter, this production is an entry to the Wisconsin Association of Community Theatre festival in Prairie du Sac, Wis., February 22-24. Tickets to Wednesday's performance are free, but a freewill donation will be gratefully accepted to help offset the costs of travel to the festival.
Following the format required for a competition, cast members must unpack the set from a 10-foot by 10-foot square in 10 minutes, perform a play in under 60 minutes, then pack the set back into the square in less than 10 minutes. Following the performance, there will be a talkback with audience members to explore the process.
The American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) holds conferences, festivals and other events across the United States. AACT festivals are part of a multi-year process that culminates in a national festival held in odd-numbered years. AACTFest provides an opportunity for community theatres from AACT's 10 regions to enter productions for adjudication and advancement from state to regional to national level. AACTFest is both a celebration of theatre and a learning experience for those who take part.
La Crosse Community Theatre's most recent entry in the AACT festival was Almost, Maine (2011). It received awards at the state and regional festivals. In 2007, LCT's The Women of Lockerbie received state and regional awards.

Weber Center for the Performing Arts Welcomes Pinkalicious: The Musical |
La Crosse, WI - 2/12/2013 - There is a pinkatastic show coming to the Weber Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Sunday, February 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. The Weber Center is located at 428 Front Street South in La Crosse.
Pinkalicious: The Musical is a part of La Crosse Community Theatre's new Jellybean Theatre Series. Hot off a highly successful run last summer at the Children's Museum of La Crosse, this high-energy production is back for one more encore! Look for more Jellybean Theatre Series productions in the coming months.
Based on the popular children's book by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann, Pinkalicious: The Musical has been entertaining kids and their parents from New York City to Los Angeles and now . . . La Crosse! Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe -- a dream come true for this pink-loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament.
Before the show, bring your cameras for a special story time plus meet and greet with Pinkalicious herself! Story times are 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on show days. Tickets are $4 and do not include show admission.
