Camp Counselor- Altra Star Academy Summer Theatre
The Star Academy Summer Theatre Counselors help facilitate youth theatre programming under the direction of the Director of Education.
Currently we are seeking counselors to join our team in working with our Elementary sessions, which will be producing Disney's 101 Dalmatians Kids, as well as our Middle and High School Sessions which will be producing Disney's Camp Rock and Once Upon a Mattress, respectively.

Reports To Director of Education
Supervises Students ages 5-17
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the combined supervision of Director of Education & Camp Manager, Counselors will work closely alongside Production Team and will be responsible for supporting a group of participants during each session of camp.
- Support the direction of a rehearsal for participants. This includes assisting the Production Team and other Counselors in running rehearsals, performing technical preparations, and backstage duties.
- Work effectively with other Counselors to provide age-appropriate theatre activities and be able to lead groups of participants in these activities and exercises.
- Serve as a role model, mentor, and leader for all participants.
- Assist with augmented supervision of participants during lunchtimes, snack periods, small group rehearsals, and technical production work.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Education and/or Work Experience
- Energy and passion for working with youth through theatre arts.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships and communication between campers, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrate exemplary leadership for all participants and fellow Production Team Members.
- Represent and promote La Crosse Community Theatre in a positive and professional manner.
Skill Sets We Are Seeking
- Assistant Directing, Music Directing, Choreography, or Stage Management
- Theatre or Camp Games
- Experience in any area of Technical Theatre
- Supervisory or previous Camp Counselor experience
- Experience working with youth participants
- Teaching Experience
- Must be willing to be First Aid & CPR certified
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Occasionally, lifting and carrying materials (less than 50 pounds) is required.
Pay will vary based on production, position, & experience
($7.25-$13/hour)
Hours: Seasonal labor, hours vary based on age group and role assigned, see below for more detailed information on each camp. Weekends are required for performances. Availability for all camps not required.
Camp Counselors are required to be at all performances.
Start date varies based on First Aid & CPR Certification and training availability.
