LCT Launches Capital Campaign for Phase 1 of Expansion Project

The La Crosse Community Theatre (LCT) has officially launched a capital campaign to fund the first phase of its highly anticipated expansion project, a pivotal step that will significantly enhance the theatre's capabilities and community offerings. This expansion is aimed at creating a full-fledged education and production facility to better serve the growing needs of the community and provide a space dedicated to nurturing local talent.

The first phase of the project focuses on the renovation of the 724 Cass Street property, which LCT acquired in 2024. The goal is to create a flexible rehearsal and performance space, a scene shop dedicated to LCT productions, and safe, secure, and organized storage to support the theatre’s rapidly growing programs. The expansion is also expected to create new opportunities for youth and adults interested in theater, including acting workshops, technical theatre training, and creative development opportunities for local playwrights and directors.

A Vision for the Future

"At La Crosse Community Theatre, we're building more than just sets; we're building the future of local arts," said Erik Vose, Executive Director of LCT. "This expansion represents a bold new chapter for us. It will allow us to offer more classes and provide our community with the kind of dynamic and enriching experiences they deserve. We’ve seen firsthand the powerful impact theatre can have, and this campaign is about making sure we have the space to keep growing and sharing those moments with La Crosse."

The expansion is a direct response to increasing demand for LCT's educational programming and production space. With an ever-growing roster of community members, both young and old, participating in theatre productions and classes, the current facilities at the Weber Center are simply not large enough to accommodate all the opportunities LCT hopes to offer.

Supporting the Campaign

The capital campaign, which seeks to raise $1.25 million for the initial phase of renovations, will involve a combination of individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and community fundraisers. LCT is counting on the generosity of its patrons, members, and local businesses to help bring this vision to life. Local philanthropists, theater supporters, and business leaders have already expressed their enthusiasm for the project, with several lead gifts already pledged.  Those interested in giving can do so online by clicking here.

Impact on La Crosse

Once completed, the new facility is expected to serve as a central hub for the La Crosse arts community, providing much-needed space not only for LCT productions but also for guest artists, community events, and cross-disciplinary collaborations with schools and other local arts organizations. The expanded programming will cater to a wider demographic, including more inclusive offerings for marginalized communities, and create job opportunities for local artists, technicians, and educators.

"We want LCT to be a home for everyone with an interest in theater, whether they want to act, design, learn, or just enjoy a great show," added Vose. "The support we receive from this campaign will make that dream a reality."

Looking Ahead

With Phase 1 underway, LCT is already planning future phases of the expansion, which will continue to build on the success of the initial renovations. These will include further upgrades to technical equipment, renovations to the outside of the building, and increased accessibility for all community members.

The completion of Phase 1 will be a significant milestone in La Crosse Community Theatre’s journey, ensuring it remains a vibrant and essential part of the city’s cultural landscape for generations to come.
